Requirements of Eligible Applicants
Applicants must be undergraduate students at an accredited university in an ASEAN country except Thailand.
Applicants must be a citizen of an ASEAN member country
All ASEAN students studying in Thailand are ineligible to apply.

Scholarship Details
Four scholarships are available. The expenses grant will be divided into 4 payments: the first month 20,000 baht, second month 10,000 baht, third month 10,000 baht and fourth month 10,000 baht.*
The tuition fee of 1 semester worth 83,000 baht will also be provided.
The grant will cover only the first semester of 2013 (August to December 2013).
* Combined total of numbers one and two is equivalent to 133,000 baht.

The School’s award panel will meet to consider eligible scholarship applications received by the respective due dates.
The School will assess all applications against the following criteria:

Previous academic record and your suitability for postgraduate study in the School, i.e.
Class of degree / CGPA / final score of first degree or previous masters-level study,
Relevance of your first degree to the course you are applying for,
Any prizes or awards given to you in your first degree.
Relevant industrial or professional experience,
Evidence of workplace experience that is relevant to the course you are applying for, and
Personal achievements which indicate your ability and commitment to: complete the intended course; contribute to the course, school and wider university community during your studies and the professional community when you complete the course.

In the event that two applications are scored identically and only one award is available, the panel will award the scholarship to the first application received, using the date of receipt in the University as the relevant date.

Please note: All scholarship applicant should intend to complete to MSc stage. Any successful scholarship applicant that chooses to exit their course early will be expected to reimburse all or part of their award at the discretion of the School.

Notification and acceptance

Successful applicants will be informed in the first instance by email
Applicants will be required to respond by email to accept the offer. A formal scholarship offer letter will then be issued and dispatched by email. Failure to accept the offer will lead to the scholarship offer being withdrawn and offered to an alternative applicant.

Terms and conditions

  • All scholarships are awarded in the form of a discount on fees paid.
  • A scholarship will be withdrawn if:
  • You fail to accept the offer within the time permitted.
  • Your scholarship or University application is found to contain incomplete or inaccurate information.
  • You are found to have committed academic misconduct once enrolled at the University
  • You are found to have committed non-academic misconduct once enrolled at the University
  • You fail to pass module assignments or end of module exams at the first attempt once enrolled on your course
  • You defer or suspend your studies, withdraw from the University or are suspended or withdrawn from the University
  • You fail to make payment for fees due to the University within 23 days of the due date
  • In the event that a scholarship is withdrawn, you will need to pay the full fees due for your course

Appeals Process
All decisions on scholarship applications will be made by the School’s Scholarship Panel. All decisions are final and we cannot enter into correspondence with unsuccessful applicants. There are no grounds for appeal against an unsuccessful application with the following exception:

Where there is evidence of alleged improper conduct or irregular procedure during the scholarship awards process.

If you wish to appeal on the above ground, you should write in the first instance to the Head of School, outlining your evidence of alleged improper conduct or irregular procedure during the awards process. The Head of School will respond to you within 20 working days.

Faculty of Science and Engineering Scholarships, Waseda University, Japan

The graduate school of Faculty of Science and Engineering, Waseda University establishes international programs that allow students to earn degrees through programs conducted entirely in English language.

Master’s Program
Aims to offer students a broader prospective and deeper knowledge to equip them with research abilities in specialized fields and advanced competences necessary for professional careers. Students will take classes offered in English. Full time attendance for two years is necessary for a master’s course. It is necessary to obtain the number of credits set by each graduate school, receive supervision in the fields of their study, and pass the thesis and final examinations.

Doctoral Program
Aims to help students develop specialized knowledge and research competences required of researchers and professionals with expertise in their fields. To obtain the doctoral degree, three years of postgraduate study with guidance is necessary, as a general rule. Students must also submit a doctoral dissertation and pass the thesis and final examinations.

This scholarship is awarded for students who are accepted to International Graduate Program (Master’s Program) after entrance examination (AO method). Applicants are required to be strongly committed to study at Waseda’s particular graduate school of his/her primary choice. Applicants must have nationality of the following country/regions : China, Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan, and must apply for this program from overseas, and have graduated or be scheduled to graduate with an undergraduate degree from universities in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan from June 2012 to March 2013. *Students who graduated from Taiwanese universities after June 2010 and completed their military service are eligible applicants.

All of the applicants must be under the age of 30 at the time of enrollment into the Graduate School of Waseda University.

Women in Aerospace (WIA) Foundation Scholarships, USA

The WIA Foundation is pleased to provide scholarships to women interested in a career in the aerospace field to pursue higher education degrees in engineering, math or science. One or more awards will be given each year to a rising junior or senior in college, to be applied during the upcoming academic year.

To be eligible for the WIA Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must be interested in pursuing a career in the aerospace field and be a rising junior or senior working towards a bachelor’s degree in engineering, math or science. An applicant must have completed at least two and a half academic years of full-time college work at the time of application and must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States or its territories, and plan to be enrolled in the subsequent academic year. Each applicant must have a college grade point average of at least 3.0 o
n a 4.0 scale. Applicants must be female of any nationality. Applications will be available on or about November 1 for the subsequent academic year.

Two awards of $2,000 each will be given to rising seniors in college, to be applied to the 2013-2014 academic year.

Application Requirements for foreign student applicants for the scholarship of public interest incorporated foundation Nitori International Scholarship Foundation(hereinafter referred to as “NISF”)

Eligibility requirements

  • A student from the world over with non-Japanese nationality who is self-supporting and residing in Japan.
  • A student currently is enrolled in a Japanese university as an undergraduate or a graduate student, and an undergraduate student is up to age 26 on April 1, 2013 and a graduate student is up to age 28 on April 1, 2013.
  • A student who needs financial aid to keep studying in Japan and does not receive any sort of other scholarship .
  • A student who is of good enough health to pursuit studies in Japan, of excellent academic record, of good personality
  • A student who has good communication skill in Japanese.
  • A student who has the strong will to contribute international understanding and mutual friendship
  • A student who is able to attend Scholarship Students Activities held by NISF (scheduled to be held twice a year).
  • A student who does not receive any sort of scholarship or subsidy for researcher from the other third parties while receiving the scholarship from NISF (Please note that the student who simultaneously possesses scholarships is disqualified for the NISF scholarship recipient.)
  • A student who works part-time job in Japan for his/her financial reason to keep studying in Japanese university
  • A student who willing to participate NISF alumni activities as alumnus, even if his/her NISF scholarship is expired.

Eligible Academic Year

Undergraduates: Regular students currently enrolled in their third or fourth academic year as of April, 2013.
Graduates: Regular students currently enrolled in the first or second academic year of a master course as of April, 2013.
Undergraduate applicant must be 26 years of age or younger (as of April 1, 2013) and Graduate applicant must be 28 years of age or younger ( as of April 1, 2013) and, as a basic rule, be currently enrolled within the minimum required years of study (i.e. he/she should not repeated a year in Japanese university).

Duration of Scholarship

As a basic rule, the scholarship will be granted from April 2013 until the final year of the enrolled academic course for a maximum of two years (Exception : when the NISF scholarship recipient repeat a year in Japanese university, he/she is disqualified for the further scholarship from then on)

Selection Process
Application ~ First selection and Second selection
Application: Access NISF website -> Enter Scholarship Application 2013 -> Fill out the application form on the website and entry it (No documents are required at the time of Web-entry. )

First selection: NISF select some of applicants by the information which the applicants entry in the application form and notice them. The applicants who pass on the First selection can take Web-test.

Second selection; NISF select some of applicants by the result of Web-test and notice them. The applicants who pass on the Second selection can take Interview.

Interview
The first interview is scheduled to be held in February 2013.

Announcement of selection result
Successful applicants are selected and announced by the Representative Director through document review, Web-entry selection, Web test, interviews, and final selection made by the Selection Committee set in NISF. Successful applicants and their universities will be notified the result in early April, 2013 (tentative schedule).

Succesful applicant is qualified as the scholarship student of NISF after he/she duly attends the scholarship presentation ceremony (scheduled in April 2013). Successful applicant should attend the scholarship presentation ceremony to get a scholarship student qualification.

Termination or forfeit of Scholarship
The scholarship will be terminated or forfeited in any of the following cases, If there is serious misconduct by the recipient, NISF reserves the right to request return of the scholarship awarded

Due to illness or any other reason when a recipient is absent from school over one month
A recipient registers long absence from school or studies abroad (outside of Japan).
When a recipient is no longer registered in a Japanese university.
Having been penalized for university regulations.
Due to illness or other reasons when a recipient is forced to withdraw or cannot continue his/her school work
Long absence from school without any reason.
Extremely poor academic achievements and bad conduct.
Absence from the Scholarship Students Activities without having written permit by NISF which is NISF official stamp on .
When it is discovered that the applicant’s written application form contains misleading or false information .
Having lost status of residence in Japan as a foreign student.
NISF cannot reach or contact the recipient for more than 14days due to his/her temporary return to home country, moving house or other reasons.
When NISF finds the NISF scholarship recipient receives an another scholarship .
If the supervising professor deems a recipient unqualified to continue his/her study or research.
If NISF finds a recipient involved in any unethical behavior .
When the recipient get the regular full-time work
A recipient defaults the obligation stipulated in this Application requirement for NISF Scholarship.
If NISF deems a recipient unqualified to continue his/her scholarship.

* The recipient is required to report to NISF, if any of the above (1)~(15) cases occurs.

Absence from the Scholarship Students Activities held by NISF
When the NISF Scholarship recipient is absent from the Scholarship Students Activities held by NISF without the written permit which is the NISF official stamp on, NISF reserves the right to disqualify or to terminate his/her scholarship.

Scholarship Student may permit to be absent from Scholarship Students Activities held by NISF by following (1) or (2) reason;

Attend the class (required to submit the certificate issued by the student Division of the current university)
Illness ( required to submit a medical certificate which is described the treatment period)

Even if in the case of the above (1) or (2), only the scholarship student who follows the procedure of following 1~3 and gets the written permit with the NISF official stamp and is absent from the Scholarship Students Activities, can succeed to receive the scholarship.

Notice NISF the reason of absence by phone and E-mail
Submit NISF the certificate issued by University or the medical certificate
Get the written permit issued by NISF with the NISF official stamp on it

Even if in the case of the above (1) or (2), the scholarship student who does not get the written permit issued by NISF but is absent from Scholarship Student Actvities (because its notice of absence just before a deadline is too late to judge and issue the written permit by NISF), NISF have the right to terminate his/her scholarship.

Dual Scholarships
NISF scholarship recipient must not receive a scholarship from any other organization. If a NISF scholarship recipient will take an another scholarship, the NISF scholarship recipient must notify it NISF within 2 weeks after he/she passes the selection for an another scholarship, and NISF shall terminate his/her scholarship.

If the NISF scholarship recipient receives dual scholarships, he/she must return the amount of NISF scholarship for the period NISF scholarship overlaps with the another scholarship, within one month from the day when he/she receives the first payment of the another scholarship .

Payment of Scholarship
NISF begins payment of the scholarship after the successful applicant submits NISF these two documents below ;

Certificate of enrollment issued by the university dated April 2013
Copy of the bank passbook information for transferring the scholarship

Submit Report
NISF scholarship recipient must submit a report on their study progress ( including academic records ) and living conditions on NISF Representative Director request.

Part-time job in Japan
NISF scholarship recipient must obtain work permit (permission of activity outside scope permitted for international student) by the Immigration Bureau of Japan and must work part-time job in Japan for more than 30 days (more than 4 hours per day) during 3 months from July to September, and must submit the copies of payment slips of part-time job on NISF request.

Management of Personal Information
The Nitori International Scholarship Foundation follows the laws of Japan to ensure that all personal information is securely and adequately handled.

The personal information given in application documents is only used for the purpose of selection. Such documents of the successful applicants will be kept by NISF and utilized as basic information for net-working activities after graduation. Please note that the list of successful applicants will be provided to the universities where the applicants are enrolled and parties related to NISF.

NISF shall dispose the application documents of unsuccessful applicants after keeping in certain period.

NISF shall open to the public the list of NISF scholarship recipients with their name, nationality, gender, enrolled university and study field on NISF’s website.

International Doctoral Scholarships in Engineering, Kochi University of Technology, Japan

The Special Scholarship Program (SSP) was established in 2003 in order to support the advanced research of the university by enlisting the help of highly capable students especially students from foreign countries. Every year in April and October, the university enrolls selected doctoral students for specific research projects. The students pursue the doctoral course in English (excl. Japanese students) while at the same time assisting their host professor as a research assistant (RA). Through this program KUT wishes to expand and deepen international ties with academic and educational institutions all over the world.

PROGRAM OF STUDY

SCHOLARSHIP TERM One year
*The term will be extended for increments of one year up to a total of three years, unless the university terminates the SSP student status for any of the reasons stated in paragraph 12 below, Termination of SSP Student Status.

OBLIGATIONS

The SSP student must work as a research assistant in a specific research project. However, the total paid working hour per week for students with “Student” status of Japanese redidence, should not exceed 28 hours per week.
The SSP student must report his/her study and research achievements to the dean of the Graduate School of Engineering at the end of each semester. The submitted reports will be evaluated.

BENEFITS

International applicants are exempted from 300,000 yen of enrollment fee.
Tuition of 535,800 yen (per year) will be exempted.
240,000 yen per year as a SSP Scholarship upon application.
Up to 960,000 yen per year for working as a research assistant.
200,000 yen for travel and initial living costs. (given only to foreign students who are living outside Japan, and who have, or have the intention to acquire, “Student” status of Japanese residence at the time of entry into Japan)

ELIGIBILITY Applicants are required to meet all of the following conditions

To have nationality other than Japanese.
To have or have the intention to acquire the “Student” status of Japanese residence, at the time of entrance, in accordance with the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act in Japan.
To have or to be expected to acquire a master’s degree before enrollment.
To have excellent academic records in both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
To be 35 years old or under at the time of enrollment.
To have the intention, adequate knowledge and research skill to work as a research assistant in one of the research projects.
To have high English proficiency.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Choose a research project from the SSP Research Project List.
Complete and submit all required documents.

ADMISSION DECISION
The submitted documents will be carefully examined in the course of the first screening. Only applicants who are successful in that screening will then be examined in such forms as an interview, an English written exam, an academic achievement written exam in the specialized field required for the conduct of the selected research project, etc. The interview and other formalities will be held at a place that will be appointed separately (hopefully in your home country).

SPECIAL NOTICE

If you are still working towards your master’s degree, a verified original master’s degree certificate in English or Japanese from your university will be required before your enrollment can be completed. If you are not able to produce such a document, you will not be enrolled.
In any case where a SSP Student is selected as a recipient of another institution’s scholarship, the scholarship as described in 6-will be canceled, and his/her monthly pay for working as a research assistant will be adjusted.
KUT will provide appropriate single accommodation for successful applicants whose resident status in Japan is “Student.” If you desire to bring your family members and live with them in Japan, you must initiate your own apartment rental.
To complete the doctoral program as a SSP Student, you need to meet all of the following conditions.
3 year’s enrollment in the school
10 or more credits
successful completion of the doctoral thesis defense
publication of two or more high level reviewed papers

TERMINATION OF SSP STUDENT STATUS
SSP student status will be terminated in the following cases

In the case where a student’s report, submitted in accordance with term 5-(2), is assessed as being below the standard for SSP students.
In the case of behavior which is deemed inappropriate for a SSP student.

Pendaftaran untuk keberangkatan tahun 2014 telah dibuka pada 2 April 2013 dan akan ditutup pada tanggal 2 Mei 2013.

Program ini ditujukan untuk mereka yang berminat dalam program research student di perguruan tinggi di Jepang.

Peminat pada waktu menjalani research student diperbolehkan melamar ke program degree (S-2 / S-3 / professional graduate course) atau meneruskan program S-3 setelah menyelesaikan program S-2 / professional graduate course, apabila lulus seleksi tes ujian yang diberikan oleh universitas yang bersangkutan.
